Press W to Move Forward is a 5-minute experimental horror game exploring the rhetorics of progress, control, and societal pressure. Like the title suggests, the player's only mode of control is through pressing W to progress the game with occasional mouse movements.
Have you ever stopped and asked yourself, why are we so obsessed with forward motion? with progress? with climbing to the top of the hill knowing that only tragedies will follow?
The game focuses on the horror of modern life under surveillance, with repetition, and no apparent way of moving forward. Each of us ultimately gets consumed by this grim realism and becomes what we feared the most, and the cycle repeats. Each of us is given a false sense of control to escape, we are told that we could manage where ever our life is heading, but that is nothing more than a video game trope of pressing W to make your life move forward. All of us are on the same path towards the same death drive, of the nameless other.

I really enjoyed this! The different angles, character model changes, the spooks, the whole subtle story! All of it was fantastic! Good job!
This was one of the most interesting horror experiences I've ever had. This was one of those game that obviously had an overall deep meaning that I don't think I fully understood, but still overall thought it was a cool and spooky experience. Just the concept alone of "only pressing W to move forward" was a really cool message in itself, which was what intrigued me into wanting to try this game in the 1st place. Overall thought it was a neat experience!

The game's interesting and looks great as well. Though quite a few times, the game just doesn't want to read my "w" input for a little bit and just make the character stutter a bit on the spot. Other then that, game is interesting.

An interesting concept. I loved the presentation, but felt like the main theme could have been presented better. plus, and that's just my own opinion so don't take it as criticism, I'm not a big fan of the message that there's no hope and we're doomed to repeat a pointless cycle. Each life is unique and has it's own purpose to discover, there is joy in that. We attain control when we let go of the need to control.
but that's not to say this wasn't fun! this was really interesting and I enjoyed it! so, good job there.

Those guys in blue suits look eerily like old cut out gif files when you see them from a distance, I was quite surprised when I walked up to the first one to discover it being fully 3D.

Ooh, that's really cool. Explains the marker (I think) art on them. Same with the grayscale stop-motion looking guy towards the end I assume? Really cool technique, I'd love to see that done more extensively.
